You know what Daily December Crittur #31 says!

"Happynewyear!!!!"
May the new year bring you health, wealth and happiness!

I hope you've enjoyed my Daily December presentation!  Until next year--be safe, be happy, be good!

Please see Daily December Day #1 for details on how I created this journal.
These critturs were numbered using the Daily December Plate1430! fromViva Las VegaStamps!  The basic idea for the journal came from an exercise in Carla Sonheim's 'Drawing and Painting Imaginary Animals'.

Daily December Critturs Day #30

Daily December Crittur #30 is another playful beast.  It plays volleyball and tag with the elves.  The sounds it makes?  "Igotit!'  'Yourit!'

Daily December Critturs Day #29

Image
Santa's workshop is cleaned up and the elves get the day off.

Daily December Crittur #29 is a playful beast and he plays Hide'n'Seek and other games with the elves.  It makes several sounds, such as 'Peekaboo!' 'Marcopolo' and 'BINGO!'  Not always at the right time though, which makes the elves giggle and laugh like you wouldn't believe.

Daily December Critturs Day #28

After a couple days of sleeping the elves are wide awake and ready to rumble--they're a hardy breed!

Daily December Crittur #28 goes 'Brush! Brush! Brush!' and the elves start cleaning up! All that toy-making leaves a terrible mess, you know!

Daily December Critturs Day #27

Image
Daily December Crittur #27 looks a lot like the elves feel as they start to wake up.  It goes "Urk! Augh!"  Upon hearing it, the elves remember their work is done for the year, and promptly go back to sleep.

Daily December Critturs Day #26

Ahhh! The day after Christmas and all through the workshop the elves are sleeping. Daily December Crittur #26 goes gently creeping, checking on each elf, and whispering 'Good Job!'

New tangle pattern Kabbidge

Image
I almost forgot! I did a new tangle pattern for you a while back, and kept it for today.  It's very like Rick's Paradox. In fact, I'll call it a tangleation.
But the difference is that it's off-kilter.  You deliberately draw each round a little bit to the side.  Or a lot!  You can change the direction of the corner lines or round off one or more sides. It makes for a surprisinly floral pattern. Enjoy!

Daily December Critturs Day #25

Christmas Day!  Merry Christmas everyone!

Daily December Crittur #25 sings like a bird! What does he sing?  Why 'Jingle Bells!' of course!

Daily December Crittur #24 is a frazzled beast.  After all, time is running short and the elves must hurry.  24 makes a sound like a whip!  Crack! Craaaaaack! CRAAAAAACK!

Daily December Critturs Day #23

Image
Daily December Crittur #23 adds touch to its repetoire.  Not only does it whisper "Hurry, hurry, hurry", it hovers over the elves and flaps its wings so cold air makes them shiver and wake from their fatigue-induced dozing.  Life can be cruel at the North Pole.

Daily December Critturs Day #21

Daily December Crittur #21 also has a doggy look.  Santa loves puppies you know. Notice those cunning little feet?  They're wooden, and #21 goes Clickety-clack, Clickety-clack just like a railroad train.

Daily December Critturs Day #20

Image
Hmmm.  Daily December Crittur #20 looks a lot like a dog.  Again.  You got me.  When I get tired I revert to drawing dogs.  No matter what I'm drawing, lol.  What you can't tell from the drawing is the #20 expands like a puffer fish and expels air to make its noise. Swoooop (sucking air in) and Whooooosh (blowing it out).  Swoop-whoosh!  Swoop-whoosh!

Today's Mail-Review of the Daycraft Signature Notebook A5 size

Image
I've been winning big this December!

Today I received two of my prizes, one of which was a Daycraft Signature notebook, A5 size, in light green with dark green trim.

For further information on how this notebook performs, please see Part II of my review, which has writing and drawing examples.

Before going further, I want to remind people of three things when ordering from Daycraft:

1. Prices are listed in Hong Kong dollars.  For instance, the price on the notebook I'm showing here is HKD $159, which works out to approximately $20.50 USD today.  If you aren't sure how to tell google your dollar versus HKD and you'll find a program that will convert it for you.

2. Daycraft has products with texts in Chinese, as well as English.  Make sure you order the language (and size) that you want.

3. Daycraft has FREE Worldwide shipping.  All the time!

I was notified that I had won this notebook on the 12/8 and received it on 12/19.  Pretty good turnaround for this time of the yea…

Daily December Critturs #19

Image
I'm sad to say that even though the critturs never meet and have no reason to dislike one another, Daily December Crittur #19 dislikes Crittur #17. Each year he steals #17's hat and stockings and hides them so that poor #17 has to find them when he wakes.

Bad #19.  Bad.  Oh.  And #19 makes the sound of skies on the snow--schuss, schuss,schuss.

Daily December Critturs Day #18

I think Daily December Crittur #18 may have had too much punch!  But he does likes to laugh, so maybe not.  He laughs maniacally.  Hee-hee-hee! Hah-hah-hah. Hah-hah, ho-ho, hee-hee, hah-hah!

Pattern-A-Day #1

I''ve been a bit slow on the ball in posting about this.

This is a pattern challenge that is a bit different from the way zentangle patterns are created, focusing more on the idea of repetition and art journaling, but I think a lot of you might find it interesting.

Tammy Garcia has been creating a Pattern-a-Day with the December Pattern-a-Day Challenge with A is for Anika so you can get a good idea of how it works.  Anika has set up a Flickr group for those who want to play.
It's a little late to catch-up but it's the kind of thing where you can jump in easily enough and catch-up at leisure or just do it for a shorter period.

Daily December Critturs Day #17

Daily December Crittur #17 has stocking feet. Fortunately, it likes to leap about or the elves would have a hard time hearing it.  Shuffle-shush, thump-galump!  That's the sound it makes!

More PaperCloth Backgrounds

Image
I've been doing a paper cloth background each night shortly before going to bed.  It's fairly mindless and only takes about 15 minutes if you have the items close to hand.  I've been experimenting a bit

For this one I used PVA glue instead of gel medium.  I can't say there is a whole lot of difference.  It's seems slightly more matte than the glossy medium and more glossy than the matte medium, but that could be partially due to the materials used.
Muslin base, PVA Glue, used paper towels, magazine pages, scrap paper from other projects, stamped images, pearl ex powder and white tissue.

This was my first experiment with pearl ex powder and matte versus glossy gel medium.  They didn't spread as much as I thought they would, but they do add some interesting color.  This background made with muslin base, matte gel medium, used paper towels, magazine pages, scrap paper from other projects, pearl ex powder and white tissue.

I discovered that paper towels that hav…

Daily December Critturs Day #16

Image
Yes.  I admit it.  Daily December Crittur #16 looks a lot like a puppy wearing a poodle coat.  Hey, I just draw these guys.  I don't design them (Well, okay, I do. I was getting tired).

#17 is a pretty skippy kind a fella. He skips and yips! Skip-yip, Skip-yip!
